April 18th: Record Store Day

This Saturday April 18th will mark the second annual worldwide Record Store Day. In a move designed to combat the downward spiraling well-being of independent record stores everywhere, a worldwide coalition of shops and industry folk have banded together to create a day designed to celebrate the mom & pop, brick & mortar record store in all its remaining glory. More than 25 stores in the greater Chicago area will be participating, offering exclusive in-store artist appearances and selling unique product released specifically to celebrate the day from artists across the globe.

If you are still a member of the music buying public, I encourage you to get out to your favorite shops and show your support for the people who still celebrate and encourage the buying of music.
