Pretty Good Dance Moves Remix
Wednesday, March 11 2009
So I recently completed a remix for the local electronic-pop band Pretty Good Dance Moves. The band is composed of two Chicago-raised gents Aaron Allietta and Jimmy Gianopoulis (now located in Brooklyn - and who I have actually known since high school) and the band functions as a sort of collective in the studio. In other words, the two are the main creative force behind the band and they fill out their songs with various sessions players, friends, vocalists, etc. for whatever purpose they deem necessary for an individual song.
I had the pleasure of performing with the band onstage at CMJ this past October and know for a fact that they're about to launch full-steam into the recording of a full-length record. I myself will be contributing production to a number of tracks, a few of which were initially sketches that came out of my studio. I'm really looking forward to diving deep into the recordings and you can obviously expect to hear a lot more about the progress of the recordings here. In the meantime, check out the remix I did. It's a song of theirs called "Demons Dancing" (you can hear the original at the myspace link above) and my remix turned out to be this sort of left-of-center, dubstep-influenced bass mix... Probably not suitable for dancefloor play but something interesting to listen to nonetheless. Let me know your thoughts...
